Hi,

I am wondering what is going on with the site as I am unable to search or browse at all. I keep getting this message, "The search engine encountered the following error: Search engine returned invalid information or was unresponsive. We are working to resolve this issue. Thanks for your patience." This use to occur periodically while using the site but now it seems to be a regular occurance.
This site is a fantastic resource and I know that it takes a huge amount of work but I have never used a site that has these kind of problems continually ongoing. This problem renders the site useless and it needs to be seriously addressed. I am sorry if I seem to be very critical but it would be a shame to have this tremendous undertaking turn into a failure due to flaws in the software which is being used.

Monk

Yes, I agree with Monk's post. Fantastic resource but continued error state renders it virtually unusable. Please let us know when will it get fixed.
Thanks.

Now it won't let me upload anything. I keep getting, for instance, this:

checking if identifier "TheGreyBook" is free...
Identifier "TheGreyBook" is available. You may upload files for this item now.

And a plain vanilla page.

Yes, this is a magnificent resource, but it does have these frequent glitches. I wouldn't worry though, I'm sure the library of Alexandria had a lot of technical problems - not enough scroll space, fragile papyrus, flooding vomitorium, etc.

The simple-upload wasn't working when I tried a little while ago, but the ftp-style upload function was.

I don't know if Library of Alexandria staff worked fulltime on weekends including early mornings, or not. ;)

I am having this same issue. How does one go about uploading files via FTP to the archive? I have some files in an area already and want to replace some and add some new ones.

Anybody out there can help me. BTW, I am on a MAC.

Jim
